Track your workouts with ChatGPT or Claude
Reps: Gym Workout Log is a free workout tracker for iPhone and Android that connects to ChatGPT and Claude over MCP. Log your sets in the app; then ask the assistant how your training is going, or have it build a plan and save it to Reps after you confirm.
What you can do with it
Ask about your training
The assistant reads your workout history, records, exercise progress, routines, plan and exercise library, so its answers come from what you actually lifted.
- “How have my squats gone over the last three months?”
- “How did last week go, and what should I train today?”
Build and save a plan
It can save a new routine, a routine edit or a whole plan: it describes the change first and saves it only after you say yes in the chat. It can also add custom exercises. The changes reach the app at the next sync.
- “Build me a 4-day strength plan and save it in Reps.”
- “In my Push routine, swap the dumbbell press for an incline press.”
What it won’t do
It won’t log a workout for you, and it can’t delete your account or your workout history. You log your sets in the app; the assistant works from them.
https://api.repsworkout.com/mcpBefore you start
- A Reps account — or make one while you connect. Sign in with the email address you use in the app. If you don't have an account yet, the sign-in page offers to create a free one, and afterwards shows you where to get the app.
- Claude: on the web or in the Claude app. In a Team or Enterprise organisation, an owner may need to allow Reps first.
- ChatGPT: on the web or in the ChatGPT app. Whether you can install plugins depends on your plan and country; in a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin may need to allow Reps.
Claude
Reps is in Claude’s connector directory, so you don’t need the server address.
- On the Reps page in the directory, select Connect (sign in to Claude first if it asks).
- The Reps sign-in page opens. Enter your email and the 8‑digit code we send you, or continue with Apple or Google.
- In a chat, open + → Connectors, turn on Reps and ask about your training.
Add it once and it works in Claude on the web, in the desktop app and in the mobile app.
Prefer to add it yourself? Use a custom connector
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, select + Add and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Reps, paste the server address as the URL, select Continue twice, then Add.
- When the Reps sign-in page opens, enter your email and the 8‑digit code we send you, or continue with Apple or Google.
- In a chat, open + → Connectors, turn on Reps and ask about your training.
The free Claude plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors, then each member selects Connect.
Claude Code
One command in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http reps \
https://api.repsworkout.com/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code, pick reps and sign in in your browser.
ChatGPT
Reps is in the ChatGPT plugin directory, so you don’t need the server address.
- On the Reps plugin page, select Install plugin, then Connect.
- The Reps sign-in page opens — enter your email and the 8‑digit code we send you, or continue with Apple or Google.
- In a chat, type @Reps (or pick Reps from the + menu) and ask about your training. Before saving a routine or plan, the assistant describes the change and waits for your yes.
Can’t install Reps from the directory? Add it as a custom MCP server
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, select + and choose Add custom MCP server.
- Name it Reps, paste the server address under Connection and choose OAuth. Tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.
- Install the plugin and sign in on the Reps page, then type @Reps in a new chat.
Custom MCP servers work on the web only, with ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu. On Pro they can only read, so the assistant can’t save routines or plans that way.
Privacy
The assistant only gets what it asks for, and only while you chat with Reps turned on. That data goes to Anthropic or OpenAI under the terms of your account with them — unlike the AI coach in the app, which runs under our agreement and never trains models on your data. Details in the Privacy Policy.
Disconnecting
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins, choose Reps and select Disconnect. In Claude, remove the connector in its settings. Either way the assistant stops using Reps. To revoke every connection at once, email [email protected] — or delete your Reps account, which ends all of them immediately.
Why log in Reps first
The assistant is only as good as the numbers it reads. Reps is built for the minute between sets: last session’s numbers are already in the row, the same again is one tap, and it works offline. It’s free, with no ads. Every set you log is one the assistant can use when you ask how your training is going. The app also has its own AI coach if you’d rather ask without leaving Reps.
Questions
The assistant can’t see today’s workout.
The app sends your data every few minutes and whenever you open it. Open Reps on your phone and ask again.
A plan saved in the chat isn’t in the app.
It arrives with the next sync — within a few minutes, or straight away when you open the app.
Does the assistant see my password or sign-in code?
No. Reps has no password — you sign in with a one-time code on our page, and the assistant never sees it. It receives only the training data it asks for.
Which assistants work?
Any assistant that can add a remote MCP server with OAuth sign-in. We test with Claude and ChatGPT.
Can ChatGPT track my workouts?
With Reps connected, yes: you log your sets in the Reps app, and ChatGPT can read your history, records and progress, and save routines or plans after you confirm. It can’t log a workout itself.
Does it work with Claude?
Yes. Reps is in Claude’s connector directory, and it works on the web, in the desktop app and in the mobile app. Claude Code can add it with one command.
Do I need to pay?
Reps and its account are free. Whether you can add plugins or connectors depends on your ChatGPT or Claude plan and your country.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol, an open way for AI assistants to connect to apps. Reps runs an MCP server at https://api.repsworkout.com/mcp with OAuth sign-in.
